The Sicula Italia Foundation was formed in April of 2021 and has become the primary organization in pursuing a formal Sister Cities partnership between Omaha and Carlentini, Sicily. Over the past 18 months, Sicula Italia has brought in filmmaker Michael Cavalieri for a showing of his award-winning film “Ritornato”, helped to facilitate the painting of the Italian/Sicilian tribute mural on the Orsi’s Bakery building, helped to establish education programs in Omaha and Carlentini grade schools, and hosted Carlentini Mayor Giuseppe Stefio, his wife, and two others this past July. Plans include student, teacher, artist, and other cultural exchanges and activities designed to strengthen the bonds between Omaha and Carlentini. Your participation in the scramble will help the Sicula Italia Foundation to move forward with its mission.
